Disability equality discussion from June 3rd.
Education Guardian online discussion
On Wednesday 3 June between 12pm and 2pm, experts in disability equality in schools will be answering your questions.
The Disability Equality Duty (DED) requires all schools to take a proactive approach in promoting disability equality and eliminating discrimination. Schools must involve disabled people who are affected by the way the school is organised - for example, disabled pupils, their parents or carers, disabled staff, disabled parents and carers, and other disabled users of the school.
Ann Henderson and Andre Imich (Senior Advisers for SEN, the National Strategies) and Philippa Stobbs and Gareth Keen (Department for Children, Schools and Families) will discuss issues including:
- what schools need to do
- who can help them
- what parents can expect
- what children can expect
The discussion forum will be available to post questions from 27 May - you can find it at:
